why do you want to do this? for more power...... Cant r\'ber the rule of thumb here.... something like for every 5% increase in displacement, add 5% power.... dont quote that though, may have just made it up in my head.
SO my 2000cc engine with TB\'s etc makes 210bhp.... with 2100cc bottom end it would make 220bhp or so... (example)
What engine?
only re-bore the engine if you have too! i.e. something has scored the liner etc.
If you bore out Engine X by Y mm youd need new pistons/rings to seal the chambers properly.
Dont ask questions like this if you arent going to give any information about engine etc..... Makes it hard to answer.

I\'ve scrapped my 2.1 block idea for now, not keen on introducing more problems.

I\'ve got spare engines coming out of my ears, but as I\'m paying for work, I\'d like it to be done right the first time

Also the bigger the stroked volume, the higher the compression ratio gets as the chamber volume stays the same.
If you have a 1.2 and you want to bore i out, it\'s far cheaper to just buy a whole 1.4 or 1.6 as you can get them for less than the cost fo the machining alone, then new pistons, etc... that\'s a lot of money spent on something that won\'t gain you as much as say £300 of a flowed head, or cams, new exahaust manifold, etc..

maybe i\'ll forget doing that then as i have a 1.4 8v engine might just got for a 1.6 16v lump and work on that i.e. chip, cam, exhaust system then work from there.

no poin tboring out a 1.4, as the 1.6 gains it\'s CC\'s from stroke, not bore, and you cna\'t just throw a 1600 crank in cause the gudgeon pin hieght isn\'t right for it on the 1.4 pistons.
A 1.6 16v is a good base.
