car not mine

Post by kirsty_corsa »

i brought my first car in April ( imagine the excitement) corsa b m reg (gorgeous but a bit battered). and I\'m still waiting for my log book to return. i got in contact with the dvla, and told them that it hadn\'t arrived, and in return they told me that the car wasn\'t mine and it was still in the last owners name, i got in contact with the previous owner and he told me he left it for his wife to send the log book off, and that he would sort it and ring me back, i am still waiting... lucky for me his dad lives across the street from me , i told him about it and he said he would sort it, neither him or his son have gotten ion contact with me and its been over a week since i rang the previous owner up. i told him that if i get a speeding fine or whatever he is the one who\'s gonna get the points and the fine, as it is still his responsibility for the car. the dvla said i would have to pay £20 for a new log book ( i ain\'t paying it it ain\'t my responsibility he lost it he pays for a new one) what do you guys reckon i should do about it

personnally i\'d just give them another bell (previous owner) cause why should you pay out for new log book when last owners can\'t be bothered sending it off

i don\'t see why i should pay for a new log book, at the end of the day the car is still in his name there fore its his responsibility if the slip got lost in the mail or whatever, £20 isn\'t allot but its regardless of the point. I\'m gonna get in contact with the dvla again and give them his number and leave it up to them

the dvla sent me it straight away, first they asked me to post off the piece of log book you get when you buy it
