My car is dead

Post by hamesy »

Yep, my car died on my last night and it wont start :(

First time it done it, I managed to get a jump start off another car and got to where I was going without any problems. Come to go home and it wouldn\'t start. I tired jumping starting it of my mates car, then gave up. So I rang my dad who came out. We tried jumping starting from my dads cars without any luck. So at 1am this morning I was being towed back from the middle of nowhere by my dads car with a copper following me most of the way.

Now my car is parked on the drive and its not going to be moving for at least a week cos I cant afford to get someone to look it at. Looks like I\'m using buses to get to work next week. :(

It will either be your battery or your alternator, my guess is that it\'s your battery, it probably isn\'t holding its charge. Try and borrow a battery off someone and have a run around with it, then you\'ll know if its that.
It\'s not that big a problem, I had it with mine, then just bought a new battery, you can get em for bout £20.

Well my dad just went to see if he can start my car again, and hes says the engine management light keeps flashing. So hes just rang up a mechanic up and he says he ain\'t got the diagnostics to see what the problem is

not exactly punk...

if the battery is dead, then everything will just dim/die when turning over the engine

flashing ECU is fault with the standard vaux alarm/immobiliser, could be the chip in the key, or the chip-ring-thing in the lock barrel which is faulty...

best checking the connections/fuses associated with the alarm/immobiliser(sp) first, and if it still carries on, then its a trip to vauxhall im afraid :(

could just be something as simple as a bad earth really, but flashing ECU light is defo immob problems! Mine does it when I remove the chip from the key, it tries to turn over but does absolutely nothing, other times it wont even turn over!

fun but a right pain in the ass!

Looks as if it was the chip in the key. I found my spare key out early and tried it. Car started fine without any problems.
