I\'ve just took my induction kit of my 1.4 16v, alot more responsive at low revs.
So it\'s more responsive with the AIRBOX? Methinks it\'s all in your mind.
It really is more responsive at low revs, it was suckin too much air in with the filter on, It\'s NOT any slower once it\'s picked up eathier.
You can\'t have too much air - the throttle body will only use as much as it can physically take.

The filter wouldn\'t have killed the engine. If it did as you suggest and he didn\'t take it up with Pipercross, he\'s an idiot.

If it was cutting out then he didn\'t fit it properly.

he did fit it properly

i would love to know how hard is it to fit an airfilter improperly??

(not sure on \"technical\" names) but its only a big tube coming from your car, connecting to the one on the air filter

That engine performs perfectly with an induction kit - it\'s one of Pipercross\' top 10 filter applications.

It will even run happily with NOTHING at the end of the intake pipe, ok it may take dust and debris into the engine but it won\'t suddenly cut out because there\'s no filter fitted.

The only reason for it to not run properly is because it wasn\'t fitted correctly.

No... they take more air in with the cone than the airbox, but the volume doesn\'t exceed the amount the engine is physically able to take through the throttle body. If the airbox didn\'t restrict the amount of air getting to the throttle body then there would be no performance benefit from fitting a cone filter.

The sound difference is due to the removal of the airbox.

You did know this really didn\'t you...? :|

Nope, dont know alot about cars. So ur sayin adding an induction kit does NOTHIN to the performance, on ANY engine?

it does, it allowss the engine to breath easier! hence changing the acceleration curve of the engine

No, I\'m saying that \"If the airbox didn\'t restrict the amount of air getting to the throttle body then there would be no performance benefit from fitting a cone filter\".

Luckily for companies like Pipercross, K&N, etc. Manufacturers have to make their cars for the general public to buy and if every car sounded like all of ours do with exhausts and induction kits, they\'d not sell very many.
So they quieten the intake system by adding loads of little chambers to the airbox which unfortunately can also hamper performance.

Add to the equation a standard paper filter and you\'ve got a pretty boring intake system.

Ditch it all for a simple cone filter and the results are normally immediately noticeable - which is where the filter companies market is.

lol the air filter is the first thing i got :P but apparently i can\'t do anything to my engine (because its only a crappy 1.2) in a way and air cone filter does have performance benefits then, because someone told me it only makes the engine sound more meaner :?
Lists of mods:Type VR enclosed induction kit, Corner splitters (front), 15"Alloys Wider than standard wheelies, front and rear strut brace, JBL front speakers, JBL 6x9's, 4-2-1exhaust manifold, Catbacksystem+backbox, Pipercross crankcase breather, alarm system(unkown i forgot!! :(), Bilsein sports kit 40mm allround...
