Will a 1.6 head fit on to my 1.4 8v, if so will it add much power?
no.
:? no it wont fit or no more power? was thinking of this myself as valves should be bigger giving more torque!

cheers m8 we have got hold of 1.6 head anyway will be doing some experimenting with valve sizes and seeing if anything can be done ie fit 1.6 valves into 1.4 head with seats recut or use 1.4 cam and carrier on 1.6 head etc also got 2.0 head just to have a play will let you all know if any thing works!

the 16v cam wont fit the 8v engine, the valves will be smaller on the 16v than on the 8v..... the 1.4 16v and the 1.6 16v have the same heads anyway. the c20xe wont fit anything, and no need to make the valves bigger unlessy ou go for a high state of tune!

hmm maybe ive not made that too clear \"broster\" they are all 8v heads but from other models of vauxhall cars!! for example rover produced 1275/ 1300 engines for minis metros maestros and montegos but the meastro head had better porting and bigger valves so the (tuning) engine building world sold stage 2 heads for minis metros and guess what the people were spending their hard earned money on yes you guessed it standard meastro heads so it is worth a good look around secrets can be found (im new to vauxhall corsas) im a time served mechanic and have messed with engines for close on 25 yrs

1.6 Head

IF they are all 8v engines, the heads are all interchanagable. there are 3 different port shapes, cathederal (1.2/1.3 nova engines (early) Square found on the SPi engines, and round on the MPi injected cars. The 1.4 and 16 round shap heads feature the beiggest valves and have the best port shape. So if the engine is a 1.4 MPi then there\'s no point putting a skimmed 1.6 on there, just finsh the head round the throat of the valve seat to improve flow and use a GSi cam.

And just tyo throw a spanner in Mark, the small block 16v head goes on a 8v bottom end, provided vlave cut outs have been added, the cam belt rollers for the 16v head are on the head, it\'s not that hard to do.

PCT- good luck with the corsa engine, Skip brown engine you have sounds tastey, I\'m halfway thogh building a supercharged XU9 at the mo

thanx for the info j1400 its an spi engine that i have, the head ive aquired is a 1.6 8v (nova) i think the 1.6 head (spi) is going to be of more interest to me do you know if the valves are bigger as ive not taken my 1.4 apart yet to measure!

the gsi cam will fit eh great news !

no prob broster dont think i put it that clearly im better with engines than English m8

if anyone on here has a 1.6 spi head and or a standard gsi cam please let me know!!!!
