Can't fill up with petrol properly
When I first got my Corsa, I could pull the handle all the way up on the petrol pump and it would click and turn off when the tank was full. Somethings gone wrong inside my filler cap - I can only pull the handle slightly so the petrol dribbles out before it clicks and cuts out. I can only get about half a tank in before the pump times out and turns itself off! Any idea what I\'ve damaged inside my filler cap?

i thought it was something on the end of the petrol filler nozzle that controls how much to fill it up. dont think its anything wrong with your car matey, try a different garage or pump

It does it at every garage so it must be something on the car.

happens to me aswel the easiest way i find to fill up is by putting the nozzle just into the filler cap and it works fine jsut got to be carefull that it doesn\'t spill out onto you (happened to me a couple of times)

check tank vent pipe isnt blocked as this can make the pressure in the tank fool the gun into thinking its full usually you can hear the valve whistle while filling

That sounds like a step in the right direction! How do I check it?

not sure on a corsa m8 so flying blind just look under car where the fuel filler pipe goes into the tank there should be a smaller pipe running parallel to it and trace where it goes unually back to the filler neck others vent under rear wings bumpers ive even found them in the rear pillers on some cars
sorry cantbe of more help with that bit but its a common fault with several other makes and ive not had my corsa long!

If you look inside the fuel cap u should c a green cone type thing with a little spring loaded door on it. If it ain\'t in the rite place ie rattling around then there is your problem. You need to pull it out and put it back in properly. I found this was the problem a little while ago. Don\'t know why but some pumps push the green thing into the neck. My advise to you is don\'t use esso fuel pumps.

I had exactly the same problem on my corsa, it turned out that theres a small plastic type restrictor in the filler neck of the petrol tank (to stop users putting the wrong nozzle in), this had somehow become dislodged.
The garage managed to take it out for me.....probably by just hooking it out using a piece of strong wire with a bend on the end.

That\'s exactly what i mean. Got it out with a metal coat hanger with a hook on the end or something.

my other corsa was like that. had to hold the nozzle as far out as possible & turn sideways, otherwise it clicked off every few pence which is a real drag when u wanna put £30+ in it!!

Finally gave up and checked the car into the Vauxhall dealers. They\'ve just called to say the restrictor collar had broken into pieces and is blocking the pipe so I can\'t fill up properly. Its costing me £78 to just have the broken bits removed. When they have the replacement part in stock its gonna cost more for them to fit it! They\'ve also found a long list of other problems with steering, brakes etc.

well not being funny mate but as long as it won\'t leak without the collar in, don\'t get them to fit a new one! Its only so u cant use a diesel pump in it, so just make sure u use a petrol one and then they only have to take the old one out, not replace it.
