spax 50 mm on a redtop corsa

Post by 2.0rab »

hello

need some help

ive just finished putting my 50mm spax full suspension kit into my 95 corsa ...the cars gots a 2.0 redtop engine fitted, when i put the front suspension in i noticed that the writing on the spring was upside down(might be nothing) smaller coils at the bottom and larger to the top ...the cars is low the top of the tyre is in the arch (195/50/15) but the big problem is the shocks either seem to short or the springs are facked cos there a terrible lot of nocking and clocking , ive checked everything and it all seems to be fine nothing is losse or out place ...

it is because of the weight of the 2.0 thats it caused the spings to compress totally down giving no travel ???

aa man u no something i think ive just realised something ...do spax come with bump stops at the front ? if not then ive not used the olds one.......im a mooncat ......anyone any ideas???

cheers lads abd lasies

Even though the engine\'s heavier, I would still say the springs would be able to cope with the increase front axle weight.

I\'ve run mine with standard GSi springs and shocks on the front while my coilovers were off and while handling was a bit wooley, I still had travel on the shocks.
No more Corsa :(

@joff see thats what i was thinking too ...its like all the springs have compressed ..its really strange as ive never ever came across this before or even heard of anyone having this problem ....im gonna rip the front struts outa it tomorrow nite and then have a look and see whats going on ..

@sim yea it all seems to be put togeather ok ive lowered many cars and ive never came across the problem before its pretty much pickling my brain im starting to think that its many the springs are faulty or else the shock is just too short or spring is too long ...cos i had to use spring clamps to get the lowering springs into the struts and i had to clamp them down a good bit which i found pretty strange cos i dont remember using spring clamps on my 1.6 sport it had g-max suspension .....

i wonder do u have to change the shock??? as in before you put it into the car you must push the piston on the shock up and down many times in order for it to work ??? all replies are very welcome cos im stuck here ;)

Ive fitted a fixed a full -40mm spax kit and i had to clamp the springs down alot aswell so id say thats normal.
Mine make all kinds of squeeks and knocks but they aint to loud and everything seems to be workin just fine.
