Cannot get car to start via engine starter
Hi everyone, I just went to start my corsa this morning and it was flat as a pancake, so got me engine start out which is fully charged, connect it up and all the car did was make the poo sound of \"i aint starting, leave me alone\" so yeh lol i was not impressed, i kept trying, i left it, went back later, tried again but to no avail. There is nothing wrong with the car, the only thing I have done and maybe I shoudnt of was use the battery is an old orion of mine just to get it started and move it elsewhere. I then put the battery back in me corsa and it started up fine, left it a few wks n now it wont start. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Cheers people

yeah could be a siht battery, could also be that the alternator isnt trickle charging it.... but if that was the case i think you\'d only have got the car working for a few days before it went flat (not a few weeks)
battery voltage when car is off should be 12v.
when engine running should be 13.5ish (1.5v from alternator)
could also be a bad connection on the battery.... use vasaline or copper grease on the terminals to stop corrosion

cheers for the replies guys. with my orion the battery has been completly flat and ive been able to start it with my engine starter as that gives it enough of a boost to get it to turn over n start, so not sure y that didnt work on me corsa. have checked the connection but will try a bit of vaseline. mite get some help with bump starting it at some point but if all this fails im gonna borrow a battery charger to charge battery up a bit n get it started, if it dont start, then there is something seriously wrong.
thanks again guys, will let u know if i sort it.

could be the dud battery on the corsa dragging all the charge down when you try the power pack. seems battery related as it works fine with the orion battery

i havent tried it on the orion again, it worked b4 as the battery was full then put it back in the corsa and still worked, left it couple of wks then nothing. when i start car without power pack i get no output, just enuff power for the electrics. when i put power pack on, dashboard lights glow brighter and the engine turns over n over but does not wanna start
have got batteries on a battery charger right now but batter charger is for engines over 1800 cc oops. shud still work a bit if i dont leave it on long. both batteries r flat as can be =(

it does all point to a knackered battery. £25 will get you a new one from a local uni-part supplier. new batt will come fully charged.
Stupid question but... there is fuel in the car isn\'t there.
Also if its been 3 weeks since you last started it, are any of the electrics damp? get some damp start and spray all ignition parts.
I went to help out Blackbetty (thats his MKCruise name.. not sure what he\'s registered as on here) the other week after he phoned me whilst on his way to get his MOT that i\'d arranged for him. When I got to where he broke down the car would not start.. made horrible noise (thats the starter motor) and although it sounded like it was trying to turn over it wouldn\'t. A quick push and a bump start and the engine kicked in and fired up no problem at all.
