Fibreglass products.

Post by spud »

Hi all,

Just out of interest, is there any specialist parts for the Corsa that could be made out of fibreglass? (I\'m talking about the real stuff here not the Isopon P40 or whatever :o )

The reason I am asking is that I have worked with it for making mouldings and toolings etc and even flat roofing. I get the impression that certain fibreglass products are very expensive for the cost of the products concerned!! Now I am at the stage where I have a bit of spare time and would like to know other people\'s views. To be very honest, I know virtually nothing about spoilers, side skirts etc but I could soon learn :)
What d\'you all think?

so you are looking at making stuff to sell on yeah?

id say theres a healthy market for fibreglass bonnets with custom bits, eg vents

gsi bumpers.... original looks are very in at the moment and its bloody hard to get a gsi kit

Thanks for the input everyone,

As I am quite new to the world of Corsa, could you tell me how much an GSi kit goes for nowadays and are there any links to pictures of one?

Cheers,

Spud.

How about fibreglass replacement wheel arch trims

dont nead smoothing before spraying

some made with a slight flair but keeping the original overall shape to blend with bumpers

I for 1 would pay for something like that

Thanks for all the info everyone -you\'ve given me plenty to think about

With regard to the GSi spoiler, even a slightly damaged one could be repaired and used as tooling - where might I get one? Few breakers around these parts have standard Corsas never mind the sportier ones

I imagine that the replacement wheel arch trims are similar to the originals but more \'flared\' would that be correct?

I\'m sorry about the delay in replying it\'s just that my PC went belly up on Friday :x -anyway it is sorted now.

nobody to my knowlage makes replacement arch plastics
except standard vauxhall the black plastic ones fade very badly and soon do not match the std bumpers

thats why I feel it would be good if a std shape but fibreglass replacement set was produced and a slightly flaired set even better, for use with colour coded bumper kits and painted standard ones,ie to match in with the gsi bumpers.

I\'m sorry to sound a bit thick, But are the wheel arch trims on the GSis the same as on the standard models.

Cheers,
