Braking problem

Post by purecarsound »

On Kirsty\'s old corsa B, I have changed the disks (Has an Astra GTE set of 256mm ATE Callipers) with the correct replacements, the pads, the drums on the rear and the shoes.

When braking \'gently\' the car shakes from rear to front. On heavy braking the shake isn\'t there.

Does anyone have any ideas.

I have also put on a spare set of perfectly balanced steelies to see if it was the alloys causing the problem.. no change.

as above, i take it you have checked that none of the caliper bolts have came loose and that everything is nice and tight that should be (don\'t forget locking compound on the caliper bolts)

Sounds like the frotn tie bar mounts my be tired as this caues \"wonderign\" at the front of the car giving a judderign as they float, on heavy breaking it makes them hold at one extreme of the movement and the feelings gone. Had this on a corsa which had grooved disks on light braking vib\'d badly on heavy nothing.
