New amp

Hey guys,

Im looking after a new amp to power some infinity 6x9\'s and some kenwood front comps. Ive got around Â£100 to spend, and I have no knowledge on amps. Can any1 help me out? I did try the search button, but all the posts are out of date and new amps may be available

Just bought a Legacy LA 670. I wired it all up and tbh, it sounds wank. I think I must of done something wrong, because it sounded so much better i reckon when my speakers were plugged into my headunit. The bass is absolutely terrible, and the treble is really high. Ive tried adjust the settings on the headunit and amp, but nothing seems to get it right.

Reet,

Just messed around with the amp settings and got the sound to a nice quality. Still lacking on the bass tho, and when I do turn the bass up, its not deep bass, its more of a tinny bass if u get me?

My mate has some infinity 6x9s and there the worst 6x9s ive ever heard tbh. No offense matey, he paid over Â£100 for his and there crap, he amped them up with a cheap toxic amp, and they sounded a bit better with crisper treble and mids, but like you said, the bass was and is still completely lacking. I dont think infinity designed there 6x9\'s for decent bass, mind i dont think any 6x9 was tbh.

Go for a set of comps in the rear door cards rather than the 6x9s and then get a cheap sub, or sell your 6x9s and get a cheap sub and amp, that\'ll give you the bass your lacking, and give you the clearer mid and treble!

Thanks for the replys.

Ive tuned my amp so the quality of sound is alright, just need to fine tune it to get it spot on. As for front comps, I got some kenwood ones (my mate was selling them cheap) and I dont think they can power mids and highs at high volume. Ill just have to see what my budget is, but im DEFFO going to get a sub. That leads me onto my next question -> can 2 amps be linked together, and is it hard? As i have 2 pre-outs, they both go into my current amp for the 4 channels (each speaker has its own channel).

If your headunit only has 2 preouts, that means that one is for subs only, and the other is for speakers (i.e. 6x9s and components etc, everything but subs)

For example say you had 2 subs and 2 amps to power them, so 1 amp powered one sub. Therefore you would wire one amps phonocables to the headunit, into the preout labelled sub, then you would connect the phono cables to the amp as normal. Then to get the next amp powering the 2nd sub the same , you take a set of phonocables from the 1st amp, and connect it to the 2nd amp like you did to the 1st amp. Thus \"daisy chain\" \'ing the two amps together....

In your case though, you would have one amp for the sub, one amp for the 6x9s and components.

You would do the same daisychain\'ing technique if you wanted your comps and 6x9\'s to run of seperate amps of the same of one preout.
