currently i have a K&N57i Induction Kit on my Corsa 99 Sxi.
my girlfriends brother has a Universal Induction kit on his Peugeot 206.
now, how come he has a much loader deep noise compared to mine, he has a standard exhaust and i have a twin powermaster exhaust? his induction looks like the one below but slightly different...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 8011417432
is he getting a much louder deeper noise because his is in that weird looking thing? and its echoing or something lol ? i duno! strange that i pay say £55 for mine, he pays say £30 and his sounds better? if i was to buy the same sort of one, would it change the sound? Thanks
also i got told it was nothing to do with it and its just the fact he has a different engine ? :-s

Different engines.
Both kits would be a rubber neck (knowing K&N) so would sound a bit crap anyway
Take the induction kit off your engine and give it a rev - that\'s the noise you\'ve got to work with, any filter you put on the end of that intake pipe will make it quieter.
Generally a metal base filter would give a better note under acceleration. My personal favourite filter for the sound was the Pipercross XL cone that PVD used to sell as a \"BFO\".
On my 1.6 it would scream at high revs
If you\'re shopping, the part number you\'ll need is a PK037XL

aye i understand what your saying, but that link i posted above, if u notice it has like a surround around the thing.... i was maybe thinking, this is what gave the deeper sort of noise, where as the k&n is not in any kind or surround or anything so wouldnt do anythin? i am thinking wrong

No, the \"heat shield\" on that is just plastic and would only quieten down the note.
The volume (in terms of area, not sound) inside the cone could possibly affect the pitch of the sound though.
One thing worth mentioning though, you\'ve got a K&N - your mates got a cheap nasty ebay filter. Out of the two I\'d go for yours any day, regardless of how it sounded.
The whole point of an air filter is that it filters the air - his is probably letting dirt and poo into his engine as I type! At least a K&N can filter air...
... just not for very long, but that\'s a different story and I\'ve already talked about it on here in another thread

An exhaust would give a deeper note, but yeah a bigger engine would help.
Go for a rear silencer for now.

The Peco would probably give the deepest note out there.
You could get a straight through system made up from somewhere like Powerflow but most of those I\'ve seen/heard are horribly boomy when being driven.
At the end of the day, it\'s just a Corsa - you\'ll never make it sound sporty without it being sporty. Don\'t worry about it too much and just enjoy driving.
