Hey people..
Ive got a corsa 1.4i 16v sport 98 s Reg Im wondering would my car benifit from an induction kit...
Ive been looking at the BMC Kits,Viper kit and Black mamber kits i don\'t really want it for sound just a Bhp increase if possible...Im looking for a induction kit with a cold air feed so i can get cold air in to the car....

a sealed induction kit is good
a open air induction kit isnt as its seceptible to hot air in the engine bay
other option is a performance panel filter.

Induction kits..
So do you think i should go for the BMC induction kit with cold air feed and will my car peform better with it plus the Bmc is cheaper than pipercross and KnN and its susposed to be better...

The BMC kit is just a cheap universal filter with a BMC sticker. If you\'re not fussed with what you put on your car, you might as well go to Halfords and get their BMC-copy for a fraction of the price.
I\'d recommend Pipercross - ok I work for them so I\'m biased, but even an itg or Ramair filter would be better than the cotton-gauze offerings from K&N, BMC, Green, etc.
Go for foam filters every time

Induction kits..
In terms of performance, it\'s only a 1.4 16v engine so there\'s no real power to be had by fitting an induction kit.
The best thing to do is work out what you want from the engine and choose the filter based on that.
If you want something that\'s not too noisy but still gives that great throttle response, then something like the Pipercross Viper or Venom is what you want.
Sealed filters with a cold air feed.
If you want something that\'ll give a lovely induction note and turn heads, then you want an open cone filter. Don\'t go for any of the weedy filters, get a Pipercross XL cone - PK037XL is the part you need to ask for. The biggest cone you\'ll be able to buy (and fit) onto the Corsa and best of all, the fitting kit is designed for your car!

The filter would be for any car - the only thing that matters is really how much air the filter will flow - you don\'t want to restrict any part of your air intake.
HKS foam is typically very poor at filtration and there are a lot of homebrew tests people have done on their websites to show this.
Generally, foam filters need to be oiled which isn\'t a problem for 95% of cars out there, but for the 5% with potentially dodgy sensors in the air intake, you want to be using a dry filter.
Cotton gauze doesn\'t work when dry. Foam filters don\'t either without restricting air slightly (but it\'s a better trade off than using a paper filter).
Cotton gauze filters are also single layer. They might lay a few sheets of cotton together before pleating them, but it still can\'t give anywhere near the dirt load capabilities of a multi-layered foam filter.

The test they use is more or less the same as the SAE J726 test we use to measure how the filters work and is industry standard.

And could you show me an induction kit that you think i should benifit from..
I have noticed that my cars hasnt be running right my G/f sister has got a 1.4i 16v sport and it pulls hard than mine... Plus i got beat of my mates 1.4i 8v clio and he had 5 people in the car and i only had me and the misses in mines but i know its not performing right but i cant find out the problem....
any ideas

a bit offtopic?, but are ram air induction kits any good?, thinking of getting one for the corsa to add a bit of style to the engine, rather than just the ordinary black airbox.

Induction kits..
Yeah they are good, i\'ve just got a standard pipercross induction kit. I used to work for a company linked to Pipercross and was able to get a Viper for £60-70, And the induction for £20 Not any more though

Now that is cheap..Ive been reading on cosasport and they say just get an upgraded panel filer like a pipercross one and then just drill your airbox....And they also said i could alway but a cold air feed to it????
