Filling half circle in GSI bumper...

Just wanted to know what the best thing to use was when filling the half circle on a GSI front bumper where the grill sits into... reason being i would like to replace it with a badgeless grill or mesh!

Can anyone help?! - Many thanks!

Wahhhhoooo im glad someone like my handy work lol....

What i used was ali sheeting about Â£1.20 from halfords a tubs of p40 fibreglass and p38 filler...

1st of all i took the bumper off so it was easyer to handle.Then i got the ali mesh and cut it to size about 2\'\' bigger width ways and cut it to the size of the circle....The i fixed it with some screws just to hold it while i worked on it then...Then i applyed the fibreglass watch it cos this stuff is a pain in the arse to work with...just fill the hold with fibreglass and bring the fibreglass just above the hole so u can easly sand it down....I let if try for a day cos fibreglass is like skin when it sets it set in stages so when u feel it..It hand but when you begin sanding or grinding the fibreglass of u find its still not dry all the way through..Then just to add strenght i just fibreglass the back of the mess were you cant see...so it holds it at the back..dosnt matter if you take too much fibreglass of cos filler is gonna cover it and give it a smooth finish...Then mix up the filler then just apply it all over the hole and about an 1\'\' each side you can always sand it down..the reason for this is that you hide and little bits around the hole end...Then let it dry takes about 20mins to dry but i would give it a few hours to dry in a warm place(Don\'t use the hair dryer on it) Then sand down with normal wood sand paper (GRADE FINE) you will be rubbing for a while but it will look good when done...then when your happy with the finish you rub it down in stages with wet and dry paper(A little tip for you Soak the wet and dry in soapy warm water for about 10mins the reason for this gives a smooth finish...Keep dipping it back in to stop it from glogging the paper up...use wet and dry 1200 then work you way down to 800 should be about 2 stages off sanding in between..when its smooth and shaped to the bumper let it dry...Then use White primer or what ever colour you like...Then when that has settled and dry rub it down with wet and dry 800 (no other course cause this is the finishing stage) the rub your bumper down with 800grit to give a very smooth finish..

If there is any in-perfection in the work you have don specailly the filler just mix some filler up and apply over the bits that need to be done then repeat the rubbing down process again..

Just remember Take you time the longer you take the better it will look..

no probs..Plus only use the filler and fibreglass in a tub not the sheeting stuff
