Lots of blue smoke

hi there, wonder if anyone can help? my gsi has started blowing lots of blue smoke mate says it could stem seals or rings,how can you tell?

You need to first do a compression test, dry then wet (see the haynes manual)

then if that\'s not conclusive have a leak down test done.

Byt that you\'ll fin dou tif it\'s the rings or not.

The stem seals are a well known issue on the corsa 16v engines and you\'ll be looking at a 300-400 bill for the work, less you can do it yourself, the parts needed are about £100 worth

I\'ve been told that if there is smoke on start up and goes away soon after it is the stem seals....
if there is smoke on the \'overrun\' (changing down) then it is the rings!!
