Forum Upgrade News / Change of Features!

This is a VERY important topic, and should be read by everyone! PLEASE do not contact me regarding this message via u2u, and also any u2u’s I receive from members who have NOT read this note, I shall not reply to.

Firstly, I am sorry I have not been around for some time, as I have been busy with things outside of the internet-world, such as life, starting uni, amongst other things…

Now down to business…

I have now DISABLED all abilities to upload to/create/amend ANY albums on the site, due to the new board software which will be hopefully online by the new year, is possible, it will be uploaded & validated on Christmas Day at the latest!

Why am I doing this?

Basically… I’m not happy with the current structuring/design/features of the site at present, and so I am starting from scratch! I’ve already begun testing of various features for the new system, all of which will become apparent upon launch, but the main things that WILL be changing will be:

Album System – complete RE-DESIGN of the original system to accommodate new features.
Car Profile – Completely new system to be used, existing system to be scrapped.
Board Software – Complete re-code from the base up to support much more enhancement & easier upgrading as time goes by
Styling – yes a completely new style is going to be used!

What does this all mean to you?

User accounts SHOULD be copied across without much trouble, as will all the posts & such contained within these forums. HOWEVER, the Album system will NOT be carried across, hence why I have disabled the album system from today (Monday 21st November 2005). PLEASE BACK UP ALL YOUR IMAGES FROM THE ALBUM!

You will notice some things removed/amended to your profile section, the ‘what you drive’ option within the profile will not be available after the upgrade, as this will be replaced with the Car Profile system.

The Buddy List will also be removed, as there will be a new version hopefully completed around Summer 2006, but this time could change. The buddy system isn’t among the most important features to be implemented at this time.

The forum structure will essentially remain the same, with little/no changes to it. The only difference being will be the styling for the site, and also some other neat features that will ‘appear’ as time goes by!

Better support for Traders & Classifieds system.

Amongst many other things…

So please, ensure you have backed up ALL IMAGES within your albums!

I will keep you update as-and-when things change/dates are fully confirmed!
