1.7DTI Or 1.4 Sri

Sorry but ive neva been able to get on to the corsa-c site.

So i thought id ask here, dont shoot.

Anyway im just little confused. I realed the 02 1.7DTI SXI corsa was relativly cheap to insure so i did my research and came up with this:

1.4i 16V SRi 5d 2002/02

Insurance Group 5

BHP 89

1.7DTi 16V SXi 5d 2002/02

Insurance Group 4

BHP 74

Why has the 1.4 have more bhp. Im sure the 1.7 has more??

Which one is better, as in overall speed and to insure and the whole lot.

hi mate, its your chioce get what you prefer, i think the 1.4 is faster because 1) its a petrol and 2) its 16v

Go for the diesel, add a superchip and you\'ll have a nice 110bhp. Plus the DTi will pull better than the petrol.

Ive had the 1.7 DTi before and noticed it did have a good pull and higher torque.

The details i got off that site (thanks of-corsa) shows the the diesel has higher torque but the diesel does 0-60 in 12.5 and the 1.4 in 10.5.

Im realy stuck as in which one to go for.

hello there m8 i noticed the post! im off the corsa-c site!

erm... really it\'s depending if ur after speed & bigger petrol comsumption or more torque (pull) & lower petrol consumption!

personally i wud chose the 1.4sri as the styling is alot better (more extra\'s than the sxi)

but like sed both have opportunities 2 mod performance wise!

probably getting more bhp of the diesel tho!

but if u was chosing the diesel go for the 1.7 cdti

they pull alot better than the dti & sound alot quitier!

Ignore the 0-60 times, they\'re for idiots. You only spend a fraction of your time driving from 0-60, the rest is at speeds from 30-70, which is where the DTi wins every time.

Both side\'s have very good arguments.

I think ill go for the one i find at the best priced based on each criteria. I have found it hard to find many 1.7DTi out there.

Where\'s the best place to look.

BTW 5 door, Black. None on Autotrader!

Go for the derv, They are easy to play with and it will always have something a petrol wont.

Torque. and hoffing amounts of it.

The 1.4 SRi Corsa C is shocking in the performance stakes to be perfectly honest.
