right im pissed off, for a while now the radio in my car has been poo and its all down to the fact of the wire not being long enough, today i went and got a long adapter from halfords and went to put it in, fits in fine but only if the big fat wires for my speakers and other stuff are not in the way, i tried to pull the radio wire abit to get more out of it, but what did i do? i pulled the bloody end off and now im left with a bronze coloured wire with the stupid pokey bit hanging out and all strands of bronze wire...... how do i fix it lol?

do you mean the aerial cable thats taped into the main car loom ??

if so stick a new plug on it there about 40p or so from maplins your not the first one to do it. If you want to change the aerial cable theres a join (aerial plug and socket) in the passengers foot well behind the kick panel you can see it when you take the glove box out

tip. to get the stereo back in and the cables out of the way take the glove box out in some cases (mine) taking out the ashtray helps

been there done that and got the tee shirt and dvd. try fitting a head unit 3 rca leads plug in, the loom for the head unit a telmute cable and audio and display cables it not bloody easy!!!!!!!!!!

i took the ash tray out etc and there was basically no room to play with, cut me hand a few times on the plastic lol as i was trying that hard to get my fingers in. im not sure but basically the bit which goes into the back of the head unit with the pointy end has completely pulled off the wire, not sure if i can just stick it back in and it will work again

oh ok i see now you ripped the standard plug off you can do 1 of 3 things

1.cut the lead back flat and strip the cable back an try and put the plug back on

2.same as above but with another aerial plug (see link below)this would get rid of the aerial adaptor in joeyb\'s post and your 1st pic
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... s&doy=16m3

3.put a new lead in from the joint in passengers footwell as i said in my first post

3A.pay someone a £5 todo it for you

or get a bit of speaker cable, expose the wire, wrap it round the aerial one which i pulled out, tape it up, cut back the other end of speaker wire, shove it in the connector and stick it back in and tape the end up so all secure ? just did all that, bit of a bodge way like but no one ever sees behind the head unit and now i finally have a working radio :D all i need now is a new aerial base.
