I took my car to a garage because my headunit wires were fried, the guy who fixed it hasn\'t done a great job.
The ignition power wire to the head unit dosen\'t work, i tried a headunit and then checked it with a multimeter. The other wires including the battery power wire work ok.
Can I swap the wires over so that my headunit runs off the battery power wire?
If I do this will I lose my radio settings when i turn my headunit off/ take the face off my headunit?
Thanx

Re: headunit ignition power wire
you have 2 live\'s there ones a switch live and the other is a permant live you can wire both perm and switch live on the head unit (red and yellow wires) to the permant live and the HU wont lose it settings only downside is it wont turn off when you turn the ignition is off

it shouldn\'t do but dont quote me on it
out of intrest you say you wires are \"fried\" do you mean that the iso block has been chop off ?

Ouch. And I thought mine was bad where the guy cut half the wires!
How\'d you manage to melt the wires then?

Re: headunit ignition power wire
I connected perm live from the car to the perm and swich live on the HU but HU dosen\'t come on. I\'ve tested the HU in another car and it works fine and I\'ve checked all the fuses etc. Any idea whats wrong anyone?[br]Woohoo! Used the multimeter and it seems all thats wrong now is the ground wire, the *Pikey* who fixed my wiring at the garage used a painted screw screwed into the PLASTIC underside of the dash!!! My HU has a hole type thingy to feed the ground wire to, should i use it of ground it somewhere else? Cheers! ;D
