GLS?!
Nope - why would vauxhall \"uprate\" a 1.2 or 1.4 engine purely for a model - it doesnt make sense.
If it was say a limited editon run GSi or something then perhaps yes or the limited edition runs of the VXR models now available.
But in the Corsa B and Corsa C to date all the engines are mass produced. The only difference was the specification of the actual car itself.
The difference with the CDX was the fact that factory Leather was an option. The engines again are the same.
The engines available in the Corsa B range are as follows (over the years)
1.0 12v
1.2 8v
1.2 16v
1.4 8v (60bhp)
1.4 8v (82bhp)
1.4 16v
1.6 16v (C16XE and X16XE engines)
1.5D
1.5TD
1.7D
None of the engines were uprated.
The only real difference was post 94 all the engines changed to Ecotec and had EGR fitted to control emissions on cold starts THAT WAS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN ENGINE SPECIFICATION

No no the 60bhp 1.4 is the C14NZ engine with singlepoint injection
The 82bhp 1.4 is the C14SE with multipoint fuel injection designed by lotus in actual fact.
Both of these engines were used in the Nova before hand.
C14NZ engine used to make the \"lower\" 1.4 models and the C14SE was used to make the Nova SRi pretty much what Vauxhall done to the Corsa as well.
My better half has a GLS model and its a X12XE 1.2 16v

gls
the L stands for luxury i know that
basically the gls is the basic engine for the corsa model with your interior extras, elec windows etc
the sport versions, ie the sri, gsi, 16valve sport models are the ones with a tweaked engine

GLS?!
think the gls just has an intersting interior and different badges. thats what a lot of corsa special editions have anyway. but i cant be sure on the gls. i cant really see the point paying over the odds for a car that has a few more creature comforts than say something like a bog standard merit. The gls does not to out for me im afraid. the cdx was top of the range then the cd then i think teh gls then the ls then the merit. something like that anyway

all the different trims and engine sizes from \'93-\'00
the main differences will have been full cloth trims, electric packs, sun roofs, power steering, abs and stereos
my flair is basically an ls with a full cloth trim coloured switches and dials and a gsi/sri type steering wheel it has the same engine as every other 1.4 8v corsa with a c14nz engine. but i\'d trade it all for power steering electric windows and a sun roof
