fitting brake pads

hi im fitting new brake pads easy
or not
iv jacked it up took wheel off took clip of the caliper
but i cant get the retaning nuts out the haynes manule says that they should unscrew but thay are not moving iv coverd it in wd40 and used the pliers still not moving
it looks like a torx bit would fit in the end but none of mine fit
anyone know what to do because im not taking it to a garrage to pay there prices

its a p reg 1.2 if that helps

the calipers held on by 1 clip and 2 allen bolts there oooh I say!ing tight tho. there is a tool for the job and it just a big L shaped allen key

apart from that it should be all in the haynes manual

i can remember its either 7,8 or 9mm (dont quote me on it tho as i have all of em in my tool box)most car shops have them from around £3 each

yeah its the 7mm just went out and bought a set
came home took the wheel off got the clip out tried to get the nuts out but none of the keys would not fit
i seen your message so i had a look at the packet it has every size from 1mm to 12mm except 7mm
im sick now going to get pissed i will try again tomorrow

And scrap all the dust off and Dont forget the copper grease!

would it be ok to use a wire brush on the calipers and the edge of the disks

I always find the best way is to get a scew driver between the piston and the pad and prise the piston back and the caliper will slide off and Yea a wire brush is ok!

yer gota make sure you wire brush all the poo out get an old screw dirver and place it between you caliper carrier and the disc and scrap the lip off the sides and top. pleanty of copper greece on the back of pads and shoulder bits were it is gone sit in the carrier take your brake fluide top off also and dont forget to pump your pedal before you set off driving. go easy on the pads for a few miles also. might fell softer than you last set of pads.

I forgot to pump the brakes once on a vw polo and went into the back of someone only about 10mph so there was no damage! first and last time i did that lol

It was bad i proper s**t myself the pedal went all the way to the floor and nothing happend! I no another lad who had wrote his car off cos he didn\'t pump the pedal well it wasn\'t his car it was a customers just went flying out the garage backwards and hit a single wall and folded the boot in.
