Amp and sub

Post by 5-door-corsa-racer »

Ive got a 2000watt amp 4 channel i believe, unbranded from ebay, lol. £60 it was, and 2xsubs, which wer apparently 1000watt each, so in reality they shud work with my amp, well no. They dont lol. The amps all light up like a christmas tree, all connected up correctly, but no bass or n e thing from my subs? n e ideas guys?

Have you checked the signal is coming through propperly rather then just white noise? This can make subs light up

Take it out of your car and try it on a speaker separately. The outputs of the amp may be dead

lol..i bet u only put the RCA leads into one channel or one left and right to each channel yeah? u need to get RCA Y splitter so u can make two RCA into four so u get left and right signal audio on both channels. Can get a pair of ebay for like £5 or if ur impatient like me goto ur local car audio shop and get some for around £10 - £15 gold plated. Other than that i can only assuse the amp is 2000watt rms output and the subs are probs only 400-500rms input each not 1000watt rms each, even when not bridged the power output from amp may have been to much for the subs lol. try connecting the amp to a home surround sound or a cheap set of computer speakers and cut one the speakers off and use its signal feed to see if the subs work when u play music from ur pc/laptop. They wont play too loud but it should work...its what i do to test my audio stuff before it goes into the car.

^the amp is unbranded and cost 60quid, therefore there is no way it is 2000wrms. They probably didnt say an rms figure because its so low. A lot of cheap brands do this, e.g theloudest.com 3000w max 2 channel amp runs at 300w rms and try finding that out from anywhere on their website.
Sounds like a faulty amp mate, otherwise are the sub outputs on your head unit turned on?
