So... What DO you think??
Over the new forum, and such???
I'm aware . doesn't like it, but he always needs to have something to moan about...
RIGHT so what DO we now have??
A much FASTER, and more Efficient forum-base than previously. Also more secure!
A few people have already commented its quicker, and easier on the eye (as it should be)
[geek]
Database queries have been halfed
Scripts are far more optimised
More of a 'standard' code base instead of heavily modified (again improves on performance as no need for any redundant queries)
Page sizes also halfed.
[/geek]
Just makes for better viewing.
ALSO
We have a Wiki in operation which will soon get populated with articles and such as time goes by. Its quite a hefty task, but possible! It can be accessed using the link in the header above, but if you want to add any data to it, you NEED to be a member of the Wiki group, or you can't login.
And as for the album, its still 'there' just not active. It doesnt work on the new forum subset, but something is in the pipeline. Images are all still there, so nothing should be lost when we finally get round to sorting that. You will just have to bear with us during this time!
But other than that, its pretty much there. The style will stay simple like this, a few things may get altered here & there, but nothing major. Any modifications or extra's will be built 'outside' the system so letting us update the base code easily and quickly (reduce downtime and all). Same applies to the Wiki system.

On a side not on the search function... this one actually WORKS unlike other sites...
oooooh and its now full-text indexing, so is quite good on results (from what I tested)

It doesn't search the wiki 'yet' but eventually it will... I cant see it being to much an issue, just a plugin..

Re: So... What DO you think??
i find it very simple to use, easy to look at also which is what annoys me on some other forums. the way they changed migweb with 50 sub forums is a joke.
simple is best

Improved the current servers performance a little
Not bad for an Athlon 1300+XP with 2.5gig of RAM

Re: So... What DO you think??
there are still some teething issues, I will admit! But your here now!
I've been focusing on server optimisation at present ready for the big move in a month or 2, but there will be no downtime... its quite clever really
For now things are good, just the domain we need to get sorted...

Update...
Smileys sorted...
Still doing the Media Album...
AND spent a bit of money on our own server... (not shared hosting or vps or dedicated, but our OWN hardware!)
