well after not beating my previous best on the strip of 13.3 last week, after a team muppetsport meeting, we have decided to look into other aspects of the car. previous best was 13.3 @ 105mph, i did 13.3 at 119mph last week, so the car is actually far far faster and a id say a hell of a lot more powerful. problem being grip now. so, todays minor adventure......
thats the car last week. its stripped out inside no stereo nothing and still sat mighty low. this was the first thing to change.
taken the avo coilovers off, and fitted the rears from a spax rsx kit, so its now -60mil springs and the spax shockers. it handles so much better its hard to describe. also tried to grip a touch in 2nd gear and pretty sure it gripped all of 3rd. so, if you want a fast car, low isnt the way to go....
next on the list are fully polybushed, uprated engine mounts, lowered tie bar brackets and a pair of these which were ordered last week, hope to be here early next week.
toyo r888 road legal cut slicks. might help a bit. got them at a good price seen as i work in the tyre and alloy wheel trade................
the future is grippy my friends.
changes to make the car grip

Re: changes to make the car grip
continuing the changes.....
new tyres may help a lot, i hope anyway. engine mounts next, bit of extra strengthening and see what else i can do. think ive possibly got enough power for now, just make it useable in gears 1-3 is the issue

Re: changes to make the car grip

also I'm guessing its a soft-ish compound??

All the above comments are deemed an opinion, and in most cases

Re: changes to make the car grip
softish aye, 20psi in them for now. will test the tyres this week, need to look into what to do with engine mounts. possibly windscreen bonder in a new one, or buy proper uprated ones, not sure, will see. its only really the back gearbox mount that needs played with anyway, as the front 2 are more load bearing, the back being the pendulum mount, ie rubber not as good cause more engine movement.
