hi folks, ive got a running problem with my 1.0 12v corsa b. first off i put a universal cone filter on it and it sounded great, maybe a lil bhp and yes, i know its only a 1 ltr.after running with this my air flow mass meter broke. i was told it was because of the filter, so i took it off and replaced it with the standard air box and new a f m m.
my quiestion is, performance air filters and induction kits are sold for my type of car but how can i be sure that if i buy one, i wont need to fork out for another a f m m? AND is it possible to put an a f m m from a bigger engine in mine? daft quiestions, but worth a try i say.
thanks people hop someone can help.

Re: air flow mass meters, a kick in the teeth!!
first off who ever told you that by fitting the filter broke the AFM is talking out there arses.
first off your car aint exactly new and that sensor has been in there from day one, heating up and cooling down like a crazy bloke,
it could have broken at any time so dont worry about it, i have a 1.4 16v and i have been running a induction kit from day one and my cars 12 years old.
but if your going to get a performance filter, get a proper one not a universal fit! as the universal fit ones can break up and you'll have pieses of filter flying into your engine!
hope this helps
Rich

take a look at the inside of the air filter you had on there, something might have come off from inside and it could be lodged in your manifold.

got the wee car fixed atlast. £153.67 for laptop connection, lambda sensor and a f m. is that a good price? i thought it woulda been more but im pleased with the outcome as it feels quicker and more responsive on throttle.
