Re: k n air filter
yes take off the origenal air filter housing and put the Kn'N in its place should have a little mounting bracket for this aswell. with will keep it out the way.
also you will need to get a cold air feed to it as the corsa engines mainly the XE engines X12XE X14XE X16XE and so on have always had a very big problem with "Warm Air"
basicaly your engine compartment is very tight and it gets bloody hot under there and where does the induction kit draw its air from well in the engine bay, so it sucks in a poo load of hot air and it suffers badly on performance,
and also with the induction kit you will get a nice sound but also you may develop a flat spot or have less power at serten RPM's compaired to before you fitted it, dont worry if this happens as this will happen with any bolt on mod. it will change the point you get your peak power so say your car pulled nice in 3rd at 2500RPM it might not feel as quick there but maybe after 4000RPM you will have more power than you had before and it will pull better from there.
my little X14XE used to pull really nice in 3rd at 2000rpm, used to shoot round to 60/70 fairly quick after i put a piper cross induction kit on it it would have a flat spot around 2500 untill 3000 then clear and go like a bat out of hell. so theres always a trade off with bolt on modifications,
personally i have found that de-restricting your origenal air box and putting a performance pannel filter in there does pritty much the same as a induction kit/cone filter. plus it wont use as much fuel and the plastic of the air box will help prevent the "Warm Air" problems. i have run a cold air feed to my air box also as i drilled it to give it the induction sound so im getting the best of both worlds. also if mr PC plod comes a knocking and wants to look in your engine bay then it dont look very obvious

basicaly de restricting the air box envolves taking the top off and you will see inside a funnel reducing in size, just take a small hammer to this to gently knock it out.P1K3 wrote:richardhhha wrote:

also if you remove the origenal air filter you will see that there is another tube that bends at 90* you will see a small melted bibble at the end, just brake this off and then pry the pipe out.
drilling the air box i found that id you get a 1/2 to 1 inch hole cutting bit, i drilled out the pod on the side of the air box, do not ever drill into the air box lid or above the air filter line as you will let debrie into the intake side of your engine = big no no
its really simple to do this but as i said earlyer you do end up having a noticable power band at the higher RPM's and it can be a bit flat just after 2000 but clears up pritty quick
