corsa 1.2 L reg help

hi ..

my corsa electrics for washer scoosher and horn dont work ,i was wondering should i try to fix this
my self or would i be best to take it to an autoelectrician ,the fuses are all fine and both horn and
washer scoosher pump are working as tested on another car.

another problem i have is quite a simple one but as i have just passed my test and dont know
much about cars im struggling to find the cars main water supply ,i have been told there should
be oil port ,washer scoosher port,brake fluid port,and (radiator port) i can find them all apart
from the radiator port so i can top the car up with water.so i have no idea as to how i keep the car
cool from overheating ,there is a large round container that says (kalt) on it and it has mirky black
fluid inside that is at the correct level and from reading the car manual it says this is for the coolant
system ,so is this what im looking for and should this be topped up with water every other week ?
why is the contents mirky black liquid.

im sorry to go on and on ,but one last thing ...

i have noticed a slight squeeling noise from the front of the car also added to this is a noise
from my front driver side wheel that sounds like slight flapping as if theres something cought
on the wheel ,after checking the suspension from leaning down on both sides of the car i can
confirm the passenger side sounds fine but the driver side where also the wheel makes that
flapping sound ,suspension makes a light un,oil'ed type sound .. the car doesnt bounce all over
the place and settles down very quickly.

i bought the car two weeks ago and on week two all these problems were present ,its my first
car and i feel i have bought a dangerous un roadworthy car ,quite unhappy.

the large orb with th blackish liquid in it is your coolant expansion tank, if it is reading maximum then its all good, but you should always check your coolant and oil levels once a week to make sure they are all at the right levels.

this squeeking noise is it happening when the car is drivingand you press the brakes or is it happening when you are stationarry and the car is running?

the car makes that slight squeeling noise when the car is moving and not when stationary ,also i dont
think its related to the brakes as the noise is there on any road surface ,i thought it might be the fan
belt but no noise when stationary ,also i had a new backbox fitted and the guy said one of by brakes
would need replaced as it was rusty, possibly this is the noise coming from my front,driver side wheel.

apart from this ,the general noise from the car is i think suspension ,i have pressed down on passenger
side and sounds fine but on driver side that same slight squeel ,very dull sound ,is there ,this is also
where the wheel makes that problem sound from before tho this is two different sounds.

so that large bottle is my engine/car coolant ,should i top up once a week with water or should
i put also anti freeze in there as well .. apart from that ,should my main checks be this watter
supply and also the oil ,is there anything else i should keep an eye on, are there any other places
where i should top up water ,like radiator as i cant find the radiator water supply but a few folks
have said there must be one.

ye i cant find the water top up on my corsa either i just add to the coolant tank1

there is no radiator cap or anything on modern engines. well unless your looking at ether a skyline or any of the nissans

ok all you got to do each week is check the coolant level, the big orb with 2 thin pipes coming out of it make sure thats on max never over just keep it on max, and you should use ready mixed 50%antifreez 50%water to top it up

always check your break fluid level and condition its on the left hand side of the engine compartment it acctually has break fluid Dot 4 writen on the cap, the fluid should be a light yellow colour if its getting a dark yellow or blackish then it will need changing.

always check the oil make sure you have enough in the cars engine, it will have 2 lil knotches on the dip stick make sure that it reads on the top knotch all the time, and if the oil is black it needs changing
i say change the oil every 3,000 miles

as with the squeeking noise, try opening the bonnet and on the drivers side you will see a suspension mount with a black cap in the center, sprey inside there with some WD40 and also look up inside your wheel arch, rights at the top you will want to be spraying some more WD40 see if that solves your problem as it might be just a dry bush.

also you may have a slightly seizing caliper or some dirt in the rear drums easely servisable by anyone with a very basic knowlage of mechanics.

Going back to the windscreen washer have you sorted it yet if not does it make noise? There is a rubber filter type thing that the pump slots on to at the bottom. Mine became clogged.

The other thought with the horn is to cheak the connections are rust free.

the problem with washer bottle filters is that they do get clogged up tme to time modeos suffer from this esspecially badly!

best thing to do is pop the pump out and take a very sharp blade to the filter cutting out the center problem solved...


and with the horn you will most prolly find that the horn is ether water dammaged so it wont work again or the fuse has blown
