For some reason my indicator stalk seems to have gone a bit wrong.
When I push it forward, the main beam comes on and it locks in position, which is normal. When I pull it back, the main beam comes on too and auto-centers when released (again normal), but somewhere inbetween, right near the auto-centering location, the main beams also come on. So now, whenever I hit a bump or sometimes just even when it returns itself from indicating, the main beams pop on, sometimes just for a moment, but sometimes staying on.
I assume just the stalk bit has become faulty, and from what I've found on the internet they come in one module and probably just pop in:
My problem at the moment is I can't find any details on how to actually put the replacement part in. Either I'm just looking in all the wrong places, or it's not in the Haynes manual
Any thoughts? Either tricks to get the existing one to behave or the location of how to replace it would be greatly appreciated

Re: Indicator/Main Beam Problems
I was having problems with mine when i first bought my car.
I just took mine out, went to the local breakers and got a new one.
Only a tenner
just plugs in

Plastic cowl flap? Do you mean the big lump of plastic around the wheel/ignition?overheater987 wrote:Take the plastic cowl flap off the steering column pops right off, save urself time and money ring llyods motor spares or something itl be tuppense
I finally found a mention of it in the haynes manual (click for full size)
Is this the only way to do it? I couldn't find an area solely on removing/replacing the indicator stalks, so if it's possible to do without taking the wheel off that'd be great.
