M.O.T

Post by psycho657 »

its that dirty time of year for me where i need to get it through its mot 2 weeks to go, problem im skint and it needs loads to get it through, lets start with the list, well its a 1.litre 12v W reg, i need a new exhaust manifold its cracked really badly, and heat shield its coroded on one of the bolts, new downpipe and cat, and centre box, back box is fine, might need a new airflow meter, rear shoes and drums, possibly new pads on front, new tyre on front n/s legal but barely, and something on the rear suspension making a bumping noise when over speed bumps, so far i have realised its absolutley fooked, so should i repair it on the cheap get it through its mot and then drop a red top in it in a month or 2 or scrap it and buy something else?

generaly only safty concerns will cause a mot faliure
cracked manifold shouldnt cause a fail
bald tyres and worn brakes would, as would your suspention
your airflow meter shouldnt cause a fail

cost you alot to have a redtop done as you would need to replace all the problem parts anyway
plus upgrade your brakes and suspention etc etc

manifold will cause mot failure and so would airflow meter, on the emissions side of the test, iv got uprated shocks and springs waiting to go on just want to do it all together, i no its gonna cost a fair wack thats y i just cant afford that right now, think i may have everything covered for its mot new tyre on tomoz, and possibly located a new manifold and downpipe/cat from a salvagers in nottingham, ill get there in the end hopefully

yer lifes a bitch then ya marry one, handbrake cable was both n/s and o/s cables needed replacing both where frayed and it said that my rear braking was 13% now it stops better now aswell so all good, the labour was the most expensive part, but my manifold was blowing wen i took it in and now its not, and it smells like a new part but its not on my mot, will get my bill toora tho so im dreading that.

ma bill was 188.27, including mot, at 39.99, and had ma manifold welded, also got told that it wasnt a bulb but was one of my halos, anyone no where i can get replacements, it was only an advisory theres 2 halos on each head so one is working on my n/s n both on o/s, got told middle exhaust section was slightly worn and rear exhaust section slightly worn, both advisory so i think its time for a sports cat and the stainless cat back, maybe a 4" round back box. or a 6 x 4 oval upswept not sure yet. :D

its the cover of ur cv joints, which if u put ur car on full lock and look behind the wheel ul see a black rubber gaitor covering ur cv joints.
