Re: Chipped air flow meter insert???? any good??
no, will just waste fuel
basily it tricks your MAF sensor in to thinking your getting more air so it injects more fuel in to your cylnders
but since your NOT actualy getting the extra air your engine it wont really do much good other than waste fuel,
plus since the extra fuel wont get burnt in your engine it soak your catylitic converter in petrol and well break it
Best way to increase your perfomance from air intake is with what i assume u already have a K&N 57i
Cheap mods that sound too good to be true like this one, usualy are stay away save up for a full exhuast system be your best bet cheif

There a lumpy wee engine even when they are going well. Think i'll call it a day and leave the wee engine be and save up for a 1.4 16v

Re: Chipped air flow meter insert???? any good??
i used to have 1 a 1.0i trip
no mod cons whatsoever didnt even have powersteering!!
but i cant fault it once it used to rev forever and altho it was slow id had it up to 105mph before lol
and with todays fuel prices its nice to own a car that does 50mpg lol
i had the 57i on mine too, if im honest it didnt really make much of a diffrence but it DID sound gourgous when giving it the beans!

Re: Chipped air flow meter insert???? any good??
i have a 12v too there a strong engine mines lowered and beats the f**k out of ma mates rover 1.8vi round corners but on the straights got no chance, i had a 57i on it but if u get stuck in traffic it sucks in the hot air, and the u hear it chuck it back out then scrambles the air flow meter done this on me twice so iv de restricted the air box, the sound is not as good as with the k n n on cos that sounded ace but its definatly quiker than with the un modded airbox. had 110 out of this one with 5 in on way back from blackpool on m6 all tho we was goin down hill, otherwise it sits at 93 on flat.

i also have a 12v, debadged it,lexus lights, lowered it 45mm, 15" wheels, got a universal max power cone filter from argos (ha ha) and peco big bore 4 back box, car handles well in corners and sounds good although the back box is a lil mellow! ive had it at 105mph and was smooth. So whats this boost valve that davis-88 is on about?? corsacenter.co.uk only sell cars. id like a lil more power and grunt but how do i acheive this from the baby 12v??

More than likely means a FSE Powerboost Valve
http://www.powerboostvalve.co.uk/c618_619_652.htm
sadly not avalable for the 1.0i
or could be this:
http://www.ecotekvalve.co.uk/product_in ... s_id=75726
which is avalable for a 1.0i
cant see ether giving you a massive power increase
altho that ecotek valve (according to their website) should improve fuel consumption.

Re: Chipped air flow meter insert???? any good??
there isnt any major power increse mods for a 1.0 but u can get a sports cat from tuning.co.uk, shud free up about 8 bhp, then get a stainless cat back system with no centre silencer should free up 5 or 6 bhp, theres also a dbilias manifold that gives 17bhp increase on the 12v, but costs 850 which u could get a 2.0 conversion done for that, u could always go to a proper nitrous installer who would set it up so would not blow ur engine up ud only get about 15bhp from that safely, some companys might be able to make some custom parts like pistons n stuff then always ring up kent cams or piper cams and see if theyd do set of fast road cams for the 3cylinder, unlikely but i reckon theyd sell quite well, also u could go for a turbo on it, in a japanese tuning mag i flick through in tesco, they have in ther staff cars, a toyota aygo 1.0 3 cylinder, and they have turbod it with this company and its running 120 bhp now id like to see that on a 1.0 corsa
