cheapest way to make a huge diffrence is to swap out the engine for a c20xe
even with tuning ur engine up u wont see more than 115hp (and thats spending alot of cash)

cheapest mods are, new pannel filter and drilled airbox (dont bother with induction kit will probably slow u down)
new exhuast system, not just a backbox im talking from manifold back
removing ur cat would free up a few hp but make ur car ilegal as it wont pass a MOT
you can get high flow sports cats but they arent cheap!
other than that, strip it out make it lighter

you could go for perfomance cams but they will set you back about £500
as for chup tuning be about £200 to £300 and youd maybe get about 10bhp
chip tuning and remapping is better suited to turbo cars
mine for example was £275 and upped for 130 to 174 horses
another optiion is to have it turbocharged then but that wud be about £4000 to have it done right

a engine swap would be about £600 to £700 depending so by far the cheapest mod!
