oil warning light....please help!!!

Post by Corsa3472395 »

hi guys need some help!!!! my oil pressuse switch started to leak yesterday, but there was no warning light..... my friend then sealed the end where the leak was but then the warning light came on..... the oil levels are perfect and the engine sounds as smooth as ever.
Im just wondering is the oil pressure actually low or is it just a faulty sensor???? is it safe to drive....
Please comment asap!!!

hi mate, i had a slight leak coming from my oil pressure switch, now i know nothing about cars so my boss got me a new switch for like £5, this was about 6 months ago and then just kast week it burst and there was oil everywhere!!! i went to vauxhall and got a new one and the guy said : the oil pressure switch is a very bad design fault and people are always replacing them. bottom line is, just keep replacing it. sorry but not much halp.

just make sure u got plently of oil in before you drive anyware
aslong as ur oil is full ul be fine but still get it checked asap

(oh and dont be tempted to over fill it if its leaking so it lasts longer as this will also shag ur engine)
