Petrol Needle Help! Please.

Post by azonicds1 »

Hey people.

I know this place is pretty good for advice and tips etc so thought id post in here.

I recently replaced the speedo bulbs in my N Reg (96) Corsa. In doing so i dropped one of the bulbs behind the petrol gauge and so removed it to get to it. This meant i had to pull the needle off the petrol gauge too. So eventually id replaced the bulbs and put the whole thing back together and now the petrol needle wont go above red and i know for a fact its got roughly 15litres in... Is this because ive take then needle off and put it back on at a different degree angle or something?? Or have i generally just messed it up big time?? Ive tried driving a mile or so to see if it was just been very slow at reading the first time after id tuk it apart but no luck.

Any help is greatly apretiated!!

Thanks in advance

only thing i can sugest is take it out all the dials all together
take off the needle and refit it turn ur ignition on, leave it a few mins then turn it off
remove the clocks then refit the needle.
make sure when refitting the needle you set it on 0 or on the stop peg

if you put the needle on the wrong position this should hopfully reset it
since it only shows how much fuel you have wen the ignition is on and should reset to zero position when its off

failing that could always buy some new clocks from your local breakers, only about a tenner!

sometimes messing with the dials m8 blows the diod behind the clocks, (looks like 3 silver string about 5mm long in the left corner), this mean ur temp gauge might go too but not all the time, so like da man sed some other clocks, i had another set in mine for 8 quid, (and it lowered da miliage lol), other thing is that the sender unit in the tank has had it but would have to be a coinsidence, hope dat helps m8
