Engine Electronics Warning Light
Hi there,
does anyone know as to why the engine managment/electronics warning light comes on everytime the rev's go past 4000rpm. This light normally comes on when overtaking (when high rev's) and the engine judders and loses power for a few seconds and then returns to normall. The warning light go's out about 20seconds later.
I've read the owners hand book and if it comes on for a second it's nothing to worrie about.
Apart from this theres nothing else wrong with the car.
Thanks in advance
Danny

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
Thanks guys I've found this as searching thought google...
http://wiki.corsa-b.co.uk/article/ECU_Fault_Codes
I've gone and tried doing the paper clip test but noticed that the pins where i should be putting the paper clip (Pin 6 on Pic below) is empty.
Does anyone know which pins i should be useing? I just don't want to be something that i'll regret once i've done it.
The car is 8 year old if this helps.
thanks

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
does yours have this 16 pin plug or a 10 pin plug? I'm not too sure if this is valid cos at that age would think its the 16 pin. Not sure what to suggest, Ive not come across a missing pin before

It's the 16pin plug. One just like above only pin 6 is empty just like pin 2.
If problem gets wrose i'll just have to have it looked at properly.
Thanks anyways guys

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
Thought I'd update just incase anybody comes across with the same problem...
I was told by a friend (machanic) that it sounds like it's missfiring and next best thing (cheapest) was to replace the spark plugs so i did.
Since then, the engine warning light hasn't come on and the engine hasn't judded since (thrown a spaz).
If it ever does this again I will update.
Thanks alot

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
Hi all,
Still got this problem, Engine warning light comes on and engine looses power. Normally does this when in 4th around 2500rpm doing about 45mph going up an hill.
seems to be doing it more now the warmer weather. The spark plugs have been replaced with non-cheap ones but still no difference. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
right i had this problem- got the RAC man to digagnose it and he founhd it to be a bank one relay- got the error code and took it to vauxhall who wanted the earth for it and said it was an o2 sensor error anyhow and charged like 50 quid for the diagnostic. Found a mobile diagnostic man who did it for 40 and he said it was the mass air flow meter costing like 130 from vauxhall- quick scour of ebay got one same serial number for 30 quid sorted the prob for me and its faster now :D hope this helps

Re: Engine Electronics Warning Light
Problem Solved.
Turned out to be the Catalytic Converter that was full of holes lol. This was because the previous owner had bodged the flexable bit in the exshaust to a stright though pipe and virtually destroyed the Cat.
Now fitted with new, no matter how hard I push the engine it doesn't though up the warning light and doesn't judder.
Thanks ALL for your help!!
