Re: Plz help!!
sounds like the idle control valve or idle control moter
its just on the side of the airbox take it its a few torx screws and give it a good clean then replace
if its still no better it be about £30 - £50 to buy a new one (dont buy from vauxhall will charge u about £130)
hopfully should work
had this issue with mine but only used to do it when i started it, if i didnt press the gas peadle it just used to starts cough n stall out again
couldnt be botherd fixing it so just put my foot on the gas wen i started it.

Re: Plz help!!
its the fact it does it in damp weather thats the give away, common fault idling badly wen its wet happend on my m8s corsa too,.
fixed it with a good clean which worked for a few month then it went completly n had to be replaced.
mine was same it would start fine if the weather was warm but if it been raining id need to give it some gas to start but once it was running it was fine

Re: Plz help!!
possibly might be worth checking it
not sure but most corsa's use a DINS (distrobuter Less Ignition System) to do away with the dizzy cap and roter
think some of the early ones had a dizzy cap and roter but im not 100% on that

Re: Plz help!!
mines a 94 soo yer has the cap and is in pretty poor condition n so is the rotor arm, getting a new cap soon so hopefully will make a cheap but big differance. One day i hope to upgrade to an audi but until then... lol. If ya have any tips on how i could improve my engine at all mate no matter how small id much appreciate it, im pretty sure its lacking in power on what its meant to be, Cheers. Mazza

Re: Plz help!!
spend alot of money for a full engine rebuild make it run like new or an engine swap for a newer one with less miles
how many miles has it coverd? if its high like 100,000 chances are its probably worn out and on its last legs, especialy if its had some brutal treatment over the years or a neglected service history
try a full service, fresh oil, new oil filter, new HT leads and plugs (and a new dizzycap and roter arm)
a new battery
new air filter (or a good clean if u have an induction kit)
flush the coolant system with new coolant
new pollen filters
new fuel filters, maybe clean the fuel system with some redex or somthing
that should give it a little bit of life and hopfully a bit more poke
common faults on the corsa are the ICV, and the MAF sensor maybe have a look at getting them swapped
also get the timing checked too could countrubute the poorly running
hope this helps,
when it comes down to it you could always just sell your car and buy another newer one from autotrader
seen a 1998 1.2 merrit 16v one on ebay looks pretty decent for £700 with 60,000 miles
