Hi everyone, im looking at a corsa and im pretty sure ill have it in the next couple of weeks, but as i still havnt done any lessons i'll end up tinkering with it before i get my license, so iv got a few questions about them in general:
1. Im thinking about an induction kit, mainly for the sound, but iv heard on a 1.0 they can reduce the hp, so is it really worth it?
2. I'v found a set of stupily cheap (decent quality) 6x9s but i dont want to cut big holes in my parcel shelf. Is there another easy place to put them or is it worth just goin to the scrappy and buying a spare parcel shelf?
3. I've been getting quotes for ages an im looking at £1200 insurance on a 1.0 TPFT, does anyone know of a good insurance company where i can bring it down a bit.
Cheers
A few questions

Re: A few questions
had a 1.0i 12v for my first car too!
inductuon kit will sound meaty but like you said will reduce engine power as all it will do is suck in the hot air from inside the engine bay,
best to make sure its well ventilated or extend the pipes so the cone is infront down the side next to the radiator
regadring your 6x9s id reccomend gettina spare shelf if you ever wanna remove em or sell the car just swap them, isnt many places you can stick 6x9 speakers without serious modifcations
regarding insurance? you will be lucky to see less than £1200 altho my 1st insurnace on my old 1.0i best i got was £1041 TPFT it was with hi-perfomance, i found em on confused.com
AA was pretty cheap too and Virgin Money
hope this anwsers your questions buddy, welcome to the site

Re: A few questions
thanks for the reply mate, i dont suppose a cold air feed will help the filter at all, or just buy a spare box and drill it?

Re: A few questions
you could replace your standard filter with a peformance panel filter and drill the bottom of the air box.. with cold air feed straight into it.. i had a tigra which i did that to and it sounded so much better than an induction kit..spudders wrote:thanks for the reply mate, i dont suppose a cold air feed will help the filter at all, or just buy a spare box and drill it?

Re: A few questions
Yea i'd go for a panel filter.
I have a set of black sport door cards and plastics, with 6x9 holes cut into the rear door cards....if you're interested?

Re: A few questions
I was thinking of a panel filter, even if i didnt drill the box it would still be better than a cone filter reducing the power.
I'll let you know mate as im still doing lessons now so i dont know if i'll even have money left to put petrol in it by the time i've passed and payed for my insurance. It would be better than putting them in the shelf though.chrex wrote:I have a set of black sport door cards and plastics, with 6x9 holes cut into the rear door cards....if you're interested?

Re: A few questions
No probs m8! Wel if they go, then they go.
The K&N panel filter (which i also have one of) semmed to work fine! Lost no power and still got the induction roar...

Re: A few questions
I've got a stealth shelf...dont know if you have heard of them but you can buy them ready made (be prepared to shell out around 60 quid though) or make it yourself. Looks like a standard shelf but houses 6x9s and hides them from thieves!spudders wrote:2. I'v found a set of stupily cheap (decent quality) 6x9s but i dont want to cut big holes in my parcel shelf. Let me know if you want to see one I'll take a pic of mine mate.
