Lowering springs
Hey, im looking at buying some lowering springs for my 1.2, but when i bought my alloys the tyres were 1/2cm too wide and whenever there is a full load in the car and i go over any bumps at some speed the back rubs against the wheel arches. Its just the edge of the wheel arch that it rubs agianst and my mate suggested cutting a bit of the arch back. Im looking to lower it about 25-30mm and i was wondering if cutting the arch back would be alright and what website/lowering springs you would recomend? cheers

yes m8 u will need to roll the arches, u can do it with an angle grinder around the plastic on the inside of the arches, and for springs go for gmax or summink m8, about 70quid. have a bit better handling and a bit stiffer suspension m8.

if it wer me id go for a full kit springs n shocks be about £150
save having problems with ur dampers later

what kind of problems could you expect?? im wanting to buy 25-30mm springs, is it alright to buy them for a corsa c and still fit them on mine?

not sure if they will be the same size might be worth checking em 1st
problem with just springs is they are made to work with the dampers and vise versa if u swap the standard springs n keep the original dampers it will wear them out very quickly cus they have to cope with the stiffer spring rate of the new springs so work harder and fail sooner
in which case you would end up needing to buy new dampers anyway!

cheapest i seen is £110 for full kit Jamex suspention
or could spend another £100 and have coilovers
up to you but i know what id do (ahem coilovers) lol

When our Corsa got its 40mm lowering springs the 195/50/15's also rubbed on the inside of the rear arches. We solved the problem by first carefully removing the plastic arch trims and then, using a rubber mallet, carefully easing the profile of the wheel arch about 5mm wider at the top, tapering in a smooth fashion down to hub level. It didn't even crack the paint! With the plastic arches refitted you couldn't tell the difference - but no more rubbing.
Maybe you could try this as a solution.

ive fitted the springs on finaly! i managed the rear ones maself and attempted the front ones but ended up gettin one of ma dads mates to fit them, only cost me £20 aswell! cheers for everyones advise and help, ill try and get some pics of ma car on soon! cheers again!!
