Dangerous issue with new alloys

Post by 1234 »

Hey all, i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this problem.

Personally im a jap man and am not familar with vauxhalls but have been helping a friend out with her corsa B.

Basically she finally bought some team dynamic alloys (unsure on model), removed the steel wheels and checked how much of the bolt shows on the inside of the wheel, i believe it was atleast 20mm. Then checked the same way with the alloys however only 10mm showed through and the bolt head did fully seat in the centreing counter bore. Anyway i looked at the hub and the thread doesnt begin until atleast 4mm depth, presumably to aid locating and starting the bolt thread. Meaning only a few mm of bolt would thread into the hub.

Seriously didnt like the look of this.

First time ive come across the need for longer bolts for alloys.

Can anyone shed some light on this please.

greatly appreciated!

Corsa always needs alloy-specific bolts for fitting aftermarket wheels. I'm surprised they didn't come with the alloys you bought!
