Upgrades For The Motor

Post by pariAh »

Yo, Im driving a Corsa B 2000 1.2i 16v Club and im wondering which upgrades i could make to the engine and other parts to make the acceleration and top speed / handling improving, which would all be reasonably cheap. Im not very experienced with mechanics so the upgrades would have to be easy and non complicated.

ive got 16inch alloy with toyo tyres which give it a little more sticking power than the standards :)

cheers x

Hi mate, I would personally suggest just doing the basics i.e air filter but to see real changes you would prob need professional help with such things things as suspension, exhaust blah blah, to be honest with u mate its not worth looking for power gains on 1.2 u may as well save and convert the engine to a 2litre to spend the money on that to see real potential.

Thats what im gonna do to mine but my mate is selling a 2litre model with 180bhp so i duno!! very tempting! haha

hope this helps!

even upping it to a 1.4 or 1.6 you will notice a difference from the 1.2! And your insurance wont go up by much...

Yea i wouldnt bother spending money on trying to push what it is now. Save up and throw either the x14 or x16 (or if you can find a good one...a c16) in there and you'l be sorted! :)

What exactly did you mean by that comment anyway?? "you need professional help"? I was merely trying to give some advice.

personally, id say wait, just make sure the engine is running sweet (i had a couple of small blows on my clio exhaust, got them fixed, felt more responsive) then as soon as you've got a years no claims, BANG your insurance drops, then just get summat like a corsa GSi!

thats my opinion anyway! hope it helps :)
