Re: Bad fuel comsumption
lots of things affect ur consumption
the 1.0i 12v is rated at 50mpg but u wont get that if ur driving normaly
i used to get about 35-40mpg out of mine,
make sure your tyres are inflated correctly, and your car is regulaly serviced, this way the engine has to work less to move you along
even using the electrics like the heated rear windscreen and the cabin fan will use fuel and aircon can increase consumption up to 14%
dont carry any un-nessasary weight, and try not to have the windows open when your going faster than 50mph
dont rev the nuts off ur car hard accelration will use up to 40% more fuel to get to 60 than just gently revving it
keep your revs as low as possible, try to change gear about 2500rpm
dont sit with the engine running if ur not moving. on a 1.0i12v if ur sat waiting 3mins in your car with the engine on, it uses the same fuel as it would to drive it 1km!
lots of people will dip their clutch or put it in netral when going down a hill, dont!!
the engine will use fuel to idle so instead just roll down in gear, this way the wheels are driving the engine and the engine will use NO FUEL AT ALL
hope this helps pal
