Oil leak...HELP

Post by sacko200 »

Hello, I recently bought an N reg 1.2 litre vauxhall corsa twist. I have changed the petrol tank as this had a leak in it and that is now fine. However i have found a new leak. There is oil coming from the top of the engine and from the side of the engine, just under and to the right of the spark plugs. There is also a layer of oil on the oil sump that must have run down from the engine.

There is no noticeable puddle of oil or anything underneath the car when i leave it but there is oil on the engine and after i cleaned the oil sump there was a new oil layer on it after i drove it again. I have also checked the dipstick several times and the oil level dosent appear to have moved, but it is worrying me how there is oil on the engine and sump.

Can anyone offer me any ideas to what it may be, and what i can do to fix it? I have very limited funds at the moment lol.

Thanks in advanced, sam

what it could be is one of your gaskets has gone what i sujest is steam clean your engine start your car and see if you can see where its pertruding from

i have an oil leak at the moment but i am going to strip down the engine anyway so ill find the culprit and i will get a new gasket in there

in the worst case could be your cylinder head gasket check your water if there is oil in it then ull have to get that fixed asap
hope it helps.

let me no

if its out the side at the top most likely your rockedr cover gasket or your cam seal, both a piece of piss to change imo.

johny
but like he says wash + wipe then get underneath while its running

if its contaminated, best bets a jet wash onthe sump - sump only though dont go drenching your spark plugs thats how a friend blew his mondeo up.
but otherwise just an old t-shirt or somethin. wipe it all round the area + check, unless its hiddied behind covers and poo you should spot it pretty prompt
