oil
i was adding water to my washer jets at the weekend and i thought i would check the oil, it was ok but i no i need an oil change
out of curiosity i opened up the bit where you put oil into ur engine and it doesnt look good, its all clunky and a pastel yellow colour , is that bad? my car seems to run fine apart from first thing on a damp morning when my car is like kangaroo petrol

If its short journeys, then it may well be condensation buildup in the oil, so will be going sludgy!
Best thing to do would be to go for a damn good drive down the motorway & blow it all out, the oil should be ok then!
Just out of interest too, check your coolant levels...

Still, it won\'t harm to do an engine flush & change the oil!
Best bet get some oil from Vauxhall, 10W40 they should recommend, but to be fair, 15W40 will be better for your engine!
Shouldnt be more than £20 for Oil, Oil Filter & new sump-plug o-ring...

cheers Paul!
i have never put any water in my car since i bought it (only antifreeze) and an oil change was one of the first things i did, no grey smoke is coming out the back.
i know that when my boyfriends head gasket (or something like that) went, his engine oil looked like mine is looking, with the water and oil mixing.
im so glad its not too serious!
ill have a blast in it tonight when i get it back

Still worth checking the other bits though, coolant levels, etc...
As long as its running ok and not lumpy on idle (especially when hot) then it could just be nothing.
Just make sure you have a spare £70 for parts though & a handy set of tools just incase it does go! 8v\'s are easy enough to work on & I\'m sure you would be able to do the headgasket yourself if it went, as to be fair, its just like a giant lego technics set with bolts!

Thats why I do all the work myself too!! I never can justify paying £80 for something which will cost me £15 & take 30 mins to sort out
Aslong as you have someone you can trust, then you aint really got anything to worry about!
