Starting Problems
Hey i haz a 2l redtop engine dropped in my car and it has trouble starting. If i just turn the ignition it makes some crazy loud sound! kinda scary! lol
I can start it by putting my foot on the accelerator a little and once started it runs fine. Any ideas?? im a complete novice when comes to things like this!

Re: Starting Problems
does it start after making the "scary noise" and then cut out? or not at all
if not at all might be your starter motor
if it does start then die its the exhaust inlet circulation manifold

And I am back in a B after all these years whoop

Re: Starting Problems
it'll be on the exhaust manifold, with pipes (most likeyl steel ) going to either you inlet manifold of your air intake ducting
"...for what good it has done me , i might aswell of stuck it up my arse.."

Re: Starting Problems
not the circulation valve its on the main block as it lets exhaust gasses back into the piston to reburn therefore giving you better fuel consumpsion

Re: Starting Problems
are we not talking about EGR?
cos it looks like thats what you've described- apart from i cant see how exhaust gasses can be taken from the block?
i'm new to vauxhalls is it a different system all together
exhaust gasses go from the cylinder after combustion to the manifold then back into the intake via the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve hence better fuel consumption as you say but less power and generally a worse running engine imo

Re: Starting Problems
you only ever get recirculation when you get over say 40 50 mph so u gett much better emmitions and much better motorway performance
but you know its all good
but you know its all good
