Tech2 Test Failed connection not established

Post by nwdaniel »

Ok, so I went to the garage for a tech2 test:

The EML comes on when driving down hill, depress the cluch and the revs drop to 0 and the engine stalls...restart the engine or bump start while still moving :| and the light goes off and normall service resumes.

When they plugged in the computer they couldn't get a response - the communication failed, the chap doing it suggested checking all the relays to the ECU and diagnostics ports.

So thats what I've gotta do tomorrow while sticking on some new allys, have another go at fixing the spedo (sender unit) & fitting a big bore back-box. any idea's on the EMS fault or why its not talking?

Thanks Guys/Gals

small update -

The speedo cable had snapped (only 7 days old) again, so it looks like I may have put it in at too-sharp angle above the sender unit and I'll have to order another one and try again...
...also found a fauly earth (main engine strap) so thats to be done tomorrow

rich: yeas at high speeds to roundabout like bypass etc.

But it mainly happens going down hill

Yeah, I replaced the snapped cable (tip: remove the air filter box to make installation easier ;)) and the spedo now works, touch-wood the light hasn't been on since so I think its fixed
