Well, i have just rang the guy who is meant to be doin the exhaust, and he will come and get the car later on his flatbed, so its all fine and dandy there. Makes it so much easier on the logistics. So i will let you know how it goes. I will probs have to get hold of some parts for him to do it, but that isnt a problem.

:) am happy!

Monday 3rd November

Well, although i have not physically done anything to the car today due to stripping my mum's astra of vital parts before it goes to scrap, there was a big step. I managed to get little bits like the stopper for the throttle cable, and some hoses for the vacuum system, just to help tidy up.

In needing my exhaust done i've spoken to a local body repair place that i know well, and he has collected the car (free of charge) on his flatbed and taken it to his place. I am providing parts tomorrow for him to do it, and it should only take him an hour to sort. So i'm hoping i will be putting an update up this time tomorrow saying the exhaust is all completed. :)

Until then!

Wed 5th November

Well, after a reasonably busy day, there has been some progress.

Got the car back from the workshop first thing...and the job done is spot on. there is a little piece of flexi to take up any movement and the job looks really good!

Once i got it back, i started on some little jobs. Pulled off the bumper and dropped the oil. Changed the filter too. there was quite a bit of water that had been picked up by the oil. Need to let it circulate again, but i think i'll be doing yet another change shortly.

Then i jacked the back up and threw a load of firegum onto the backbox join. and aligned the tailpipe how i want it. looks good and should seal all the way through now.

However, when i started it, the bottom pulley (for alternator) is twisting as it turns, so i dont think it's on straight. Will sort this tomorrow. Also, the throttle cable still needs sorting.

Until next time...

Thursday 6th November

Indeed, as i have got my phone back, i was able to take some photos today.

I only got a small amount of work done as i just could not focus on what i had to do...dont know why. So i did a couple of things, took some photo's and then left it for the day.

So...some pics of what i have done.

Battery tray behind seat:

And here is a couple of pictures of the exhaust job. Seems to be superb, looks like it will certainly do the job! :)

I forgot to get a picture of how the tailpipe sits, but will try and remember to get one tomorrow. It's a sedate as you like...lil black tailpipe that sits snugly against the bumper.

And then today's jobs. The bottom pulley was taken off, cleaned and then put back on and checked for tightness. Seemed ok, but i have to see it running to check.

And then i put the roose tophose on that arrived today from LMF.

So, after that i decided i wasnt gonna make progress today, and decided it best to leave it. So i took some photos, parked it and that was it.

Also have a great picture of the engine, but it wont upload it as its too big

so, until next time...
