i have just bought an digital tachometer for my car
it has 3 wires
1. green which apparently goes to the - on the ignition
1.red which apparently goesto the + on the coil
1.black which pparently goes to the engine ground
any one know if this is correct and how the f**k it knows the rpm if it is correct
and is it easy to attach to these thngs
if is reli confusing me . hnks for any help u all n give especially dan,
tachometer...

i have spoken to the guy who sold methe tachometer and it all make sense now
the wire that goes to the coil is connected to a sensor which counts how many times the charge is buit then released and divides it by the number of cylinders you have to work out the revs.
each time the chare builds up then lets go that is 1 spark from 1 plug
the other wires are for power and switching on and off
