right ive done this on my 1.2 8v and it sounds like its got an induction kit on it...
you will find that doing this is better than fitting an conical filter due to it not sucking in hot air from the engine!
start by lifting the bonnet and taking the top of the air box off.. theres 2 clips on the side then just lift up
then tke the intake hose from the airbox off(the one that goes to the carb /injectors) then inside the lid of the airbox there will be a cone shaped thing. give it a hit on the inside and it will pop out easy!
then remove the hole air box by disconnecting the vacuum hose on the side then pulling it off.. its only held on by rubbers
then at the side of the airbox nearest to the wing drill holes! as many as you like less = less noise more = more noise!!
and for the extra bit of noise on the same side underneath theres a panel that can be cut out(its glued on!) i had to drill a hole and use a jigsaw to get mine off!
after this is done the ECU will need reseting! do this by disconnecting the battery for a few hours then connect it back up.. it may idle badly at first!! DO NOT REV IT FOR 20 secs!!!!
after this your done!!
youll notice a very nice noise and better throttle response!!
good luck!

cool.. one thing missing.. disconnecting the battery? is it just disconnecting one of the terminals??
i thought the ecu would adjust automatically.. cus it does with varying air temperatures doesnt it?

Thats not a dent.... its an aerodynamic mod :P

you can disconnect 1 terminal or both.. just make sure no power is going to the ECU so its back up battery dies...kona1991 wrote:cool.. one thing missing.. disconnecting the battery? is it just disconnecting one of the terminals??

the ECU does adjust itself.. but with what you've done alot more airs going to be able to go in and the ECU cant adjust enough to compensate.
so you'll find before you reset the ECU it will lack power and go to stall sometimes

you can drill holes in the bottom and front of the lower box the only side you need to worry about is the side closer to the engine and theres no point in drilling th back of the box as it won't be gettin much air.
i did mine by derestricting the lid and inside the box then by drilling large holes in the side of the box i then decided i wanted a bit more and did the front and the bottom of the box

be careful when drilling the side! as the box will heat soak from the hot engine! you want cold air in.... so thats why its done on the side of the wing!!

i'll post a pik of it once i get another air filter box, i did it about 1 year ago and since i have bought another car so took the 5dr back to standard and concentrated on my "new" SRi i'll post a step by step guide for all who need it from the moment i unpack the new box to when i fit it, i'll even try to make a video of how it sounds.
