Mis-fire & poor economics.

Post by Dash »

Hey, been a long time since I posted here!

Im having some issues with my beloved corsa.

For some time now ive been experiencing an intermittent mis fire, which occurs at low revs, in any gear. Ive replaced the spark plugs & HT leads with new ones and the problem persists :meh:

Im also averaging 25/26 MPG on it, its a 1.2 8v with 58k on the clock.

Any suggestions guys?

Ive been doing some thinking and this mis firing problem started just after I had a full service done in march, where they changed the spark plugs.

Im wondering now if maybe they have replaced them with the wrong ones?

Im gonna go into haulfrauds and get them to look up the ones that should be in it and check them.

I have a Haynes manual in front of me...misfires occur because:
-Fuel Filter Choked
-Fuel Pump Faulty, or delivery pressure low
-Fuel tank vent blocked, or fuel pipes restricted
-Vacuum leak at the fuel injection unit/throttle body, inlet manifold or associated hoses
-Worn, faulty or incorrectly-gapped spark plugs
-Faulty spark plug HT leads
-Distributor cap cracked or tracking internally - where applicable
-Faulty ignition coil or DIS module
-Uneven or low cylinder compressions
-Fuel injection system fault
I'd be checking the condition of your spark plugs, then the HT leads for any white residue indicating wear & tear. Maybe get some new plugs? If not, check the distributor caps.

oops..sorry, didn't read the post above. Yeah I'd be checking the model of plugs they're replaced yours with...what engine do you have? DOHC? SOHC? what litre? and what year?

Good luck 8)

exactly same car as mine.

Check the plugs are the correct model for your car and the HT leads + distributor caps are not loose.
