Engine electronic light!!!

i had light come up on my dash today .. the orange one ..i looked in my book and it said it was the engine elctronic light.... it came on so i pulled over and turned the engine off ..i re-started the car and i drove off again .. with no light..... so when i reached my destination ..i read about it and it said that if this light is illuminated for a short period ..its harmless ..yet if it stays on or flashes its an electrical fault somewhere ......i have driven it since with no light up and i have expperienced no change in any electrical function or drivablity...it did say somthing along the lines of ...if this light comes on ..dont leave your indicator lights flashing or somthing.....i have a slightly slippy/slack alterator belt... could it be this???(been like it for a while tho) ... also i have a problem with one of my coloum stalks..its a bit feeble and somtimes my main beam flicks on ........... i just wanted to know if anyone could help diagnose ..or maybe any experience ....i could take it to vauxhall but plugging it into tech 2 aint cheap!!! ...any help ??????

where are you dude i have a diag macine

and if u were booting it a lot lol

then that would be it mine used to do it
but let me no

and no cage can fix that ahahah

dam it .. ithought a cage would solve it ...ha ha
erm yeah i have been booting it alot recently ...especially in the cold .........took it for a good old blast the other day .. im just worried that the engine may go into safe mode / " limp home" ....im in portsmouth mate .. how much does a diag kit cost ... alot io expect ..iv'e heard that you can check it yourself by the fault code flashes !!!!... it hasnt come on at all today .... does this mean its ok ....also ive been told it could just be the oxygen sensor playing up and then its good as gold again ......but i think coz its come up once the ecu has registered a fault and im worried now ... so is it probably worth getting checked out anyway, even though it could be harmless????? cheers for any help guys !!!

it should b fine if uve been booting it a lot for a long period

then it will come on its cryin for u too stop lmao

it cost about 6 grand and then u have to update it every year which is 500 lol

and you bought this ??? ...yeah im gna give it a good old service n that ...needs it .....the trouble is i take good care of my car ........nd i get worried when somthing goes wrong .....so at the moment shes ok but if the light comes on again im gna take it to vauxhall !!!!!!! cheers for ya help geez!!!!

so even if the light does come on ..do u still pik up faults ..or does ya car read healthy ???

if it comes on after a right good bootin its usually just the knock sensor

or the idle control coz it thinks u idle at 5000 rpm lol

it gets allconfused

i had my engine electronic light on today and when it came on the revs stuck on. once i reved it again it was fine, but the light still comes on. any ideas ???
