How much would I have to change the car to drop a 1.6 16v engine into my 1.2 8v.
Obvious ones are brakes, suspension..
would I have to change engine mounts, inlet manifolds? Any of the complex stuff?

i have a 1.2 8v,
im guessing it would cost you anything from a few thousand in a garage but a few hundred if done yourself.
yer you'll need a complete engine inlet and exhust manifolds, the enigne loom and ECU, prob defo need to make new mounts also defo upgrade the brakes

Re: dropping a x16xe into a 1.2 8v
the thing that would put me off, unless u can get the engine dirt cheap and get it fitted dirt cheap it wouldnt be worth it
you could get a 2000 reg 1.6 sport with all xtra like electric windows n aircon n that for around £1200
which is what id rather do, just sell ur old car and get another one with a bigger engine!
id only concider an engine swap if it was bigger than a 1.6 or my old engine was knackerd.
but its up to you

well the gf doesn't want me to get rid of the car yet. Which means I've got to build electric windows and play with it to make it more modern..

If I bought a brand new corsa/punto or anything, she says the current car has sentimental value (I don't have to say what's happened in the back seats)
